Join Barbara Browning, Matias Viegener and Kate Zambreno for a reading of their uncategorizable works and a discussion on critical fiction, experimental biography and autobiography, and the role of the Internet in the writing of their books. The event will begin at 8pm.
Barbara Browning is the author of the ficto-critical novels The Correspondence Artist and I’m Trying to Reach You, the first of which is based on an email correspondence, the second of which is illustrated by a series of YouTube dance videos featuring the author. She also records ukulele cover tunes.
Matias Viegener is a writer, artist and critic who teaches at CalArts. He is one of the founders of the art collective Fallen Fruit, which has exhibited internationally in Mexico, Colombia, Denmark, Austria, and at LACMA, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and ARCO 2010 in Madrid. He has published fiction and criticism in Afterimage, American Book Review, Artforum, Art Issues, ArtUS, Artweek, Black Clock, Bomb, Cabinet, Critical Quarterly, Fiction International, Framework, The Journal of Aesthetics & Protest, Mirage, Paragraph, Suspect Thoughts, and X-tra. He is the co-editor of Séance in Experimental Writing and The Noulipian Analects. His new book of experimental non-fiction, 2500 Random Things About Me Too has been hailed as the first book written on and through Facebook.
Kate Zambreno is the author of the novels O Fallen Angel and Green Girl. Heroines, her critical memoir revolving around her obsession with the wives and myths of modernism, was published by Semiotext(e)'s Active Agents this November. Her anti-memoir Book of Mutter will be published by Counterpath Press in March 2014.
