A panel discussion on relief efforts and artists’ responses to Superstorm Sandy, moderated by Charles H. Traub, artist and chair of the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department, who was among the organizers of “here is new york,” the community-sourced exhibition of post 9/11 photographs. John Mattiuzzi (MFA 2012 Computer Art) will discuss his video Frankenstorm, capturing the human and emotional impact of the storm in Brooklyn. Jessica Rionero (BFA 2010 Film and Video) and BeGracious.org Founder Chelsea Marino explain the non-profit’s mission to raise money for the purpose of re-building people's homes. Dena Muller, director of new initiatives at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), discusses the impact the storm has had on the wider community as well as the art world, and what steps NYFA is taking to provide assistance. Presented by the Office of Alumni Affairs at SVA.
