This talk considers the natural world as a material and concept for contemporary art, raising questions like: What is the relationship between Nature and Technology? Between Art, Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Environment? What kind of implications of ethical and moral questions do artists address? How could the relationship between Nature and Culture be described? Between Nature and Life? And last but not least: Do classical aesthetic concepts like the “Still Life” fit in those concepts? Visiting Scholar Sabine Flach is an art historian and theorist specializing in art, science and interdisciplinarity in modern and contemporary art. Presented by the BFA Fine Arts Department.
