Join us at Van Alen Books to celebrate the launch of Tectonic Arts of Desire and Doubt, a collection of fourteen essays by architect and writer Mark Rakatansky. This publication, the ninth volume in the Architecture Words series, brings together a body of writing and thinking on the performative capabilities of architecture.
Through discussions of fabrication, social parametrics, spatial narratives, and tectonic animation - as well as reflections on figures both in and outside of the discipline of architecture, from Greg Lynn to Robin Evans to John Coltrane to Andrea Palladio - Rakatansky investigates buildings as a performance of architectural identity.
Rakatansky will be joined by Michael Bell, Galia Solomonoff, and Mabel Wilson to discuss how architecture can engage with the complex tectonic dramas of social and cultural space.
