How do we talk about architecture? Housing? Cities? Culture? Politics? And, equally important, how don’t we talk about them? Comments on Foreclosed, a forthcoming book and online archive of public reactions to Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream, a 2012 exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art that was co-curated by the Buell Center, has been produced to document just this kind public discussion and the various platforms that shape it.

Comments on Comments launches Comments on Foreclosed. A performance of excerpts from the archive will open a multimedia panel discussion and Q&A. In so doing, certain gaps in the public conversation on American housing and urbanism will be identified, and systemic deficiencies called out.

Comments on Comments will also be a conversation about the architecture of the media—including its frameworks, practices, protocols, and structures. The public is invited to join Columbia students, faculty, and many of those who contributed to the initial discussion, in addressing these urgent issues shaping our discipline.
