A discussion with Timothy Mitchell, Mika Minio-Paluello, James Marriott, and Anna Galkina, moderated by May Boeve
It's no coincidence that the globe is experiencing a dual political-ecological crisis. Oil and gas have shaped our political and economic infrastructures, which in turn have ensured a continued dependence on oil and gas industries.
Timothy Mitchell, Mika Minio-Paluello, James Marriott, and Anna Galkina come together to ask: How does the carbon-politics-money nexus inform current struggles for climate and social justice? How do the theories and practices surrounding fossil fuel dependence challenge, reinforce, and reproduce each other? The discussion will be moderated by May Boeve of 350.org.
Timothy Mitchell is a political theorist, historian, professor, and chair of Columbia University's Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS).
