To commemorate its 10th Anniversary, the Segal Center's PRELUDE Festival will bring together former and present PRELUDE curators as they share insights and cautionary tales about contemporary performance.

Moderated by David Levine. With Sarah Benson, Claire Bishop, Caleb Hammons, Andy Horwitz, Rob Marcato, Morgan von Prelle Pecelli, Geoffrey Scott, and Helen Shaw.

Joined by Frank Hentschker (PRELUDE co-curator and director of programs at the Segal Center) the panel will discuss lessons gathered over the past decade, while also focusing on a proactive vision of experimental New York theater for the decade to come. Presenting over thirty works in progress from October 2-4 at the Graduate Center, the PRELUDE festival celebrates the unique creative forces in contemporary theater and performance that live and thrive in New York City.

David Levine‘s work encompasses performance, theater, installation, and video. Dividing his time between New York and Berlin, where he is director of the Studio Program at the European College of Liberal Arts, Levine has directed at the Atlantic Theater Company, the Vineyard Theater, and Primary Stages. He has presented performance projects at such international art spaces and shows as MoMA, Documenta XII, Rohkunstbau, Town House Gallery/Cairo, HAU2/Berlin, PS122, and the Watermill Center, as well as at the Sundance Theater Lab. Free; admission is first-come, first-served (no reservations). For more information, visit www.theSegalCenter.org or call 212-817-1860. This program is part of the yearlong initiative Cultural Capital: The Promise and Price of New York’s Creative Economy, produced by GC Public Programs in collaboration with the Advanced Research Collaborative (ARC).
