New School, Lang Community Center
55 West 13 Street, Arnhold Hall (Room I205)
In his book Junkyard Planet: Travels in the Billion Dollar Trash Trade, Adam Minter—veteran journalist and son of an American junkyard owner—travels deeply into a vast, often hidden, 500-billion-dollar industry that’s transforming our economy and environment.
In this lecture, Minter will discuss the globalization of the economy and flows of trash and the ways in which sustainability and "going green" often mean making money. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A.
This event is sponsored by the Global Studies and Environmental Studies programs at The New School.
