Arjun Appadurai is Paulette Goddard Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. He was formerly a professor at the University of Chicago where he received his Ph.D., and has taught at Yale and the New School University where he served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. He is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Social Life of Things: Commodities in Cultural Perspective (1986), Modernity at Large: The Cultural Dimensions of Globalization(1996), and Fear of Small Numbers: An Essay on the Geography of Anger (2006). 

Saskia Sassen is the Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair of the Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University. 

Richard Sennett is University Professor and Professor of Sociology and History at New York University. 

Sudhir Venkatesh is the Williams B. Ransford Professor of Sociology, Columbia University.
