One measure of women’s changing status in Latin America is their increasing access to positions of power, as presidents, cabinet members, as national legislators and local government leaders, and as CEOs.   This seminar will examine several political dimensions of this change: the shift from social movements to legislative and legal strategies, the effect of electoral quotas, the conflict between feminist and indigenous agendas; how women have fared under populist governments, and the international  impact of Latin American feminism.
