Work is work, no matter if it is generating movement, teasing thoughts into sentences, fundraising or finding space to make dances. Whatever the medium, the focus needed to create new work is physically and intellectually consuming. Enter the creative realm of Twyla Tharp, the 2014-15 Distinguished Guest Artist, as she talks about her current projects and answers questions from the audience. Building
on her inaugural lecture about the creative habit, Tharp will explore her ideas about work and its relation to art and life.
The yearlong Distinguished Guest Artist Series brings this world-class artist to the University community, offering opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange and artistic exploration for students and faculty alike. Intended both to bridge and expand curricular offerings, this inaugural series combines the best of a liberal arts education with art-making at its best.
