In her new book The Partnership, screenwriter and author Pamela Katz vividly portrays the tempestuous collaboration between the renegade poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht and the gifted composer Kurt Weill, the geniuses who created theatrical and musical masterworks including The Threepenny Opera. Katz’s intimate portrait not only illuminates Brecht and Weill’s volatile creative process, but also the spectacular Weimar Republic, the last burst of freedom before the darkness of Nazism. To communicate the musical and dramatic genius of this partnership, Katz is privileged to present a musical reading of the book together with a stellar interpreter of Brecht and Weill’s work: Karen Kohler, who frequently performs Kurt Weill’s songs in distinguished venues all over the country.
