In her paper, "Feminism and Neoliberal Governmentality", Johanna Oksala investigates the consequences for feminist politics of the neoliberal turn. For this Politics Talk Oksala will discuss Foucault’s lectures on neoliberalism in order to assess the ways they can contribute to feminist theory and politics today.
Johanna Oksala is an Academy Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy, History, Culture and Art Studies, University of Helsinki and a Visiting Scholar at the New School for Social Research (2013-2015). She is the author of five books: Foucault on Freedom (2005), How to Read Foucault (2007), Foucault, Politics, and Violence (2011), Political Philosophy: All That Matters (2013), and Feminist Experiences (forthcoming in 2015). Her current research focuses on feminist critiques of capitalism and on radical environmental philosophy.
