The fundamental mission of a publisher is to make public. This panel, organized by Arezoo Moseni in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Phaidon Press, Siglio Press, Yale University Press and David Zwirner Books, delves into the current and future trends in art book publishing and investigates the circumstances making an art book groundbreaking and life-changing. The panel also tackles the myriad of possibilities advancing art book publishing in the commercial and academic marketplaces.

Deborah Aaronson is Vice President, Group Publisher at Phaidon, based in the company’s NYC offices. As Group Publisher, she is responsible for expanding Phaidon’s Art, Photography, Fashion, and Children’s publishing programs, as well as overseeing the design and production departments. She comes to Phaidon from Abrams, where she served as Vice President, Publisher for the adult trade group. She spent more than 14 years at Abrams where she acquired and published books across a broad range of categories with a diverse list authors, including the photographer Todd Selby, The Warhol Museum, Kate Spade, and the Kings County Distillery. She has a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Todd Bradway, Director of Publishing (New York), joined the gallery in early 2014 to run the newly formed David Zwirner Books. He has been in the publishing industry for close to twenty years, and has spent the majority of his career at D.A.P. | Artbook.com. He oversees the publishing program, which includes exhibition catalogues, monographs, historical surveys, artists' books, catalogue raisonnés, and publications to accompany museum shows, as well as the international distribution of books into the trade. The publishing offices and book showroom are based in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood in a townhouse located at 515 West 19th Street, adjacent to the gallery.

Arezoo Moseni is an artist. Her work has been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions at major venues in the United States and abroad such as FIAC 2014, and it is held in numerous public and private collections including the Brooklyn Museum, Bibliotheque nationale de France, Mead Gallery and Musee de La Photographie. She is the recipient of several fellowships and grants including the Carnegie Corporation of New York | New York Times award, Kentler International Work on Site grant, Yaddo Fellowship and Artists Space Independent Project grant. She received a BFA at Utah State University, a MA and MFA at the University of New Mexico, and a MLIS at Pratt Institute. She curates exhibitions and events at The New York Public Library where she has initiated several exhibition and program series featuring the work of emerging and renowned artists, authors, critics, designers and others.   Patricia Fidler has been atYale University Press for 14 years, serving as Publisher for Art & Architecture since 2011. She manages a department of 10 people, including editorial and production staff, acquires titles, and oversees 23 exclusive museum publishing partnerships.  Previous to Yale, she was Editor at Princeton University Press and at Bulfinch/Little Brown. She began her career in a curatorial capacity at The Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City and holds a Master’s Degree in Art History and French.

Lisa Pearson is the founder and publisher of Siglio Press, an independent press in Los Angeles dedicated to publishing uncommon books that resist categorization and live at the intersection of art and literature. She has edited several titles including the recently released Dorothy Iannone; You Who Read Me With Passion Now Must Forever Be My Friends, along with It Is Almost That: A Collection of Image+Text Work by Women Artists & Writers, Torture of Women by Nancy Spero, and The Nancy Book by Joe Brainard (co-edited with Ron Padgett), among others. In just five short years, Siglio titles have garnered high praise from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, London Review of Books, New Yorker, NPR, Bookforum, The Believer and BOMB magazine, among dozens of other media.

Mark Polizzotti directs the publications program at The Metropolitan Museum of Artin New York. He is the author of eight books, including the collaborative novel S. (1991), Lautréamont Nomad (1994), Revolution of the Mind: The Life of André Breton (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1995; revised ed., 2009), Luis Buñuel’s Los Olvidados (British Film Institute, 2006), and Bob Dylan: Highway 61 Revisited (Continuum, 2006), and has translated over forty books from the French, including works by Gustave Flaubert, Marguerite Duras, André Breton, Raymond Roussel, Patrick Modiano, and Jean Echenoz. His articles and reviews have appeared in The New Republic, The Wall Street Journal, ARTnews, The Nation, Parnassus, Partisan Review, Bookforum, and elsewhere. He was previously an editor at Random House, Weidenfeld & Nicolson, David R. Godine, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
