MA Curatorial Practice presents artists Tania Bruguera and Shirin Neshat discussing their experiences as citizens and artists whose work considers gender, politics, their respective homelands (Cuba and Iran) and beyond. Shirin Neshat has long been an outspoken advocate for women and all marginalized groups throughout the world. Her photographs, videos and film projects present figures caught in the dynamics of political struggle. Tania Bruguera is an installation and performance artist whose work exposes the social effects of political force. She was recently the subject of world attention when she was placed under temporary house arrest in her native Havana for presenting work critical of the Castro regime.
