Aperture: Our Bodies Online
Tuesday 07 February, 2017
6:30 - 8pm, $0
New School, Lang Community Center
55 West 13 Street, Floor 2 (Room I-202)
"Our Bodies, Online" is a part of the Confounding Expectations lecture series, which is sponsored by Aperture Foundation, the Department of Photography at Parsons The New School for Design, and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics.
This conversation will focus on how women wield images of their bodies online as a tool of power and/or as sexual objectification, exploring the question of who is allowed to use their body in this way. What are the implications of bodies imaging themselves online in the name of feminism? What are the rules of feminism now? Should there be boundaries and definitions? The conversation will be moderated by artist and writer Carmen Winant. Additional speakers to be announced.
